History

Deichman Excavating Company was established in 1970 by Sandy Deichman. The company incorporated in the state of Indiana in May of 1974.

In 1974, Sandy Deichman and Bob Brandstatter purchased Hedde Ready Mix, Inc. and renamed the company D & B Ready Mix, Inc.

In 1976, Sandy made the decision to see half of the shares of Deichman Excavating to Bob Brandstatter.

In 1980, Sandy and Bob purchased Marburger Ready Mix in Peru, Indiana. The company was also renamed D & B Ready Mix & Supply, Inc.

In 1984, Sandy and Bob purchased Central Paving Co., Inc. from Carl Bohm and Mo Little.This company was renamed Central Paving, Inc.

In 1988, the Logansport and Peru Ready Mix plants were sold to IMI, Inc. D & B Ready Mix and Supply, Inc. was renamed D & B Trucking, Inc.

In 1995, the three existing companies, Central Paving, Inc., Deichman Excavating Co., Inc., and D & B Trucking, Inc. were split with Sandy Deichman owning D & B and Deichman and Bob Brandstatter owning Central Paving.

Today, Sandy Deichman, along with sons Rusty, Joe and Jake, have made Deichman Excavating Co., Inc. and D & B Trucking, Inc. a family-owned and operated business in north central Indiana.

The company became pre-qualified with the state of Indiana in May of 1974. We are a 100% union company, utilizing teamsters, operators and laborers. Deichman's dump trucking and low-boy needs are performed by it's sister company, D & B Trucking, Inc.

Safety is a huge concern with the company and their employees. Joe Deichman is the company's Director of Safety and keeps everyone up to date with safety programs and regulations, as well as enforces the substance abuse policy. In addition, all foremen and job superintendents have been trained in the safety and substance abuse arena.

Today, Deichman Excavating works as a prime or subcontractor on many state highway, city and county projects. We also specialize in sanitary, storm, water and site preparation projects utilizing the latest technology in laser beams and GPS systems.
